Future of The Islamic Academy of Manchester: Update Post- Planning Meeting January 2015

Inna lilla wa inna ilaihi rajiun. Our planning application was rejected by the Council at the meeting on 22nd January 2015. We will keep everyone informed of any further developments. Please continue to check our website and Facebook page for updates.

We wish to emphasise that our campaign for relocation over the past couple of years has focused on negotiating with the Council, given that we were their tenants for 40 years, and not the company who acquired the site from them (Church Converts LLP).

Although they were under no legal obligation to assist us, the Directors of Church Converts have been extremely helpful, co-operative and understanding of our desire to keep our community facility running. Despite obtaining planning permission for redevelopment in February 2014, they have provided us with a number of extensions on our lease. This gesture has meant that we have been able to continue our congregational prayers and other services going, whilst we have searched for an alternate site.

We would like to convey our thanks to the Directors of Church Converts for co-operating with us during this difficult time.
